What's New for the 2022 Ford Escape?
For more than two decades, the Ford Escape has been the compact crossover SUV preferred by many West Virginia drivers. This model broke into its fourth generation in 2020. At that time, it introduced head-to-tail design updates and enhanced features and capabilities. While the Escape was recently updated throughout, Ford has continued to make exciting improvements to it. As you prepare to make your next SUV selection, you may be curious to learn about Ford's updates to the 2022 Escape. While there are a few improvements, these are only minor shifts of features from trim to trim.
For 2022, the Ford Escape is offered with four trim levels. The primary engine available is a three-cylinder, turbo 1.5-liter engine. It is linked to an eight-speed auto transmission to deliver 181 horsepower behind the wheel. An alternative powertrain is a 2.5-liter hybrid engine that produces 200 total horsepower. It is paired with a continuously variable transmission. Higher trim levels are also available with a 250-horsepower, turbo 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine. This engine has an auto transmission and all-wheel drive.
The base Escape trim level for 2022 is outfitted with essentials, such as a wireless internet hotspot, a 4.2-inch central display screen, a six-speaker sound system, lane departure mitigation, a blind-spot monitor, and forward collision mitigation. If you progress to a mid-level trim, your 2022 Escape may come with equipment like satellite radio, an 8-inch display screen, smart device connectivity, keyless entry, a keyless ignition, adaptive cruise control, heated mirrors, evasive steering assist, a power liftgate, a navigation system and more. The most advanced trim levels available build on this by adding a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, a wireless charging station, a heads-up display, ambient lighting, front parking sensors, and a great selection of additional features.
