For over 100 years, the Rose Parade®, historically held on New Years Day in Pasadena, California, has been a magnificent sight for millions of viewers with its awe-inspiring floats, bands and performers. Now in its 127th year, the parade will feature an elaborately-designed, 55-foot-float which will represent WVU Children’s Hospital and its “Wild and Wonderful” state on the big stage. Inspired by California-based artist and Morgantown native, Lorraine Strieby, the WVU Children’s Hospital float will feature two iconic West Virginia landmarks, The New River Gorge Bridge and The Greenbrier Springhouse. This will mark the first occasion in which a Children’s Miracle Network hospital be a part of this storied tradition.
Residents of the state of West Virginia, particularly those in close proximity to the WVU Children’s Hospital in areas such as Morgantown, Clarksburg, Grafton, Fairmont and Bridgeport, are aware of the countless miracles that take place at the WVU Children’s Hospital every day. Annually, supporters of WVU Children’s, near and far, volunteer their time, fundraise and contribute the capital necessary to uphold the efforts of the nonprofit hospital, guaranteeing that no child is turned away regardless of their ability to pay.
There are a number of ways to meaningfully impact the WVU Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network that expand well beyond the Rose Parade®. Your contributions, no matter how small, will actively support and fund the global impact of the float, help finance a national and regional PR campaign that will bring attention to the good works and growing needs of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, foster diverse relationships and promote conversations between individuals, groups and businesses and finally, garner much needed support for the member hospital to continue to meet the healthcare needs of the community it serves.
The parade provides us with yet another opportunity to roll up our sleeves and get involved with WVU Children’s Hospital, a nonprofit organization that not only hits home for many of our staff members, but whose work is something our community strongly believes in and has always supported.
Toothman Ford has stepped up to the plate and signed on as an “Icon Sponsor” of the Miracle New Year Campaign. From now until New Years Day, we will proudly sell Rose Parade® Decals, small and large depending on the size of contribution, which will hang in our store window and feature each donor’s name. Individuals, groups or families may purchase decals for $1 or $10, in-store, during regular business hours and 100% of proceeds will benefit the WVU Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network.
