The 2022 Escape is offered with three powertrains. The base engine is available in most trims, and it is a 181-horsepower, three-cylinder, 1.5-liter turbo engine. Other trims are offered with a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder hybrid system that produces 200 total horsepower. Top trims receive 250 horsepower from a turbo 2.0-liter, four-cylinder system. Most of the 2022 Edge’s trims receive 250 horsepower from the same turbo 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine available in the Escape’s top trims. However, the top Edge trim benefits from a 2.7-liter turbo V6 engine that produces 335 horsepower. All Edge trim levels have an auto transmission and all-wheel drive.
The Ford Escape has a smaller footprint with a sleek design. The front end displays a cascading hood with a tapered definition and a stretched, hexagonal grille. These elements set off the dual-bulb, LED-underscored headlights. The sides have smooth sculpting and thick body molding. The Edge has a larger, chrome-accentuated grille with a flatter, angled hood. Its headlights are topped by an LED bar. The sides are smoothly defined with more rigorous accents over the fenders and thicker molding.
The Escape and the Edge have several shared features. These are a sunroof, leather upholstery, a high-end sound system, front parking sensors, a wireless charging pad, CoPilot360 and CoPilot360 Assist+ tech, ambient lighting, heated heating seats, a hands-free liftgate, memory settings for the driver’s seat, remote engine start and more. The Edge adds a SecuriCode entry keypad, a household-style power outlet, a security alarm, ActiveX material, a glass roof, and other items in select trim levels.
