The current Ford lineup holds several solid crossover SUV options for you to consider. The 2022 Escape may have captured your attention with its spunky style. This small, two-row crossover SUV is frequently compared to the Explorer. The Ford Explorer is a midsize crossover SUV with three rows. What other distinguishing qualities should you know about these models before you stop by Toothman Ford for a test drive?
The 2022 Ford Escape is offered with three powertrains. The base engine is a 181-horsepower, three-cylinder engine. A hybrid four-cylinder engine is also available, giving you 200 combined horsepower. The top two trims for the 2022 Escape are equipped with a 250-horsepower, turbo 2.0-liter, four-cylinder system. The Explorer is also available with three powertrains. The entry-level engine is a 300-horsepower, turbo 2.3-liter, four-cylinder design. A hybrid V6 engine that produces 318 combined horsepower is also offered. High trim levels have a 400-horsepower, turbo 3.0-liter, V6 engine.
The Ford Escape and the Explorer have individualized exterior styling. The Escape’s façade is defined by a low-profile, sleek design. The sides are smoothly sculpted with thick, lower-body molding. The hood has crisp, tapered accents that draw attention to the large, LED-underscored headlights and the small, hexagonal grille. The Explorer, on the other hand, has long, flat angles throughout its profile. It is both taller and broader than the Escape. The sides are designed with two angled accent lines and moderate molding. The hexagonal grille is much larger than the Escape’s grille and is contiguous to the long, LED-topped headlights.
There are also important differences between these models' interior and safety features. Some or all of the 2022 Escape trims have a head-up display, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, front parking sensors, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charging pad, and smartphone connections. The Explorer is a three-row model that adds a few more features to the mix. These features include a more powerful sound system, massaging front seats, wood trim, interior ambient lighting, and more.
