The Expedition stands as Ford's largest three-row SUV, combining a spacious and well-appointed interior with impressive capabilities. The fourth generation of this vehicle was introduced in 2018, bringing with it bold updates. Since then, Ford has continued to make various enhancements, resulting in the 2023 and 2024 Expedition models. These mid-generation Expeditions share many similarities, but they also feature significant differences you should explore before choosing your next SUV.
The Expedition boasts robust engineering, offering three distinct powertrains across its trim levels. The base engine is a V6, 3.0-liter turbocharged engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, delivering 380 horsepower. There is also an upgraded V6 engine option producing 440 horsepower, with specific trims that include an off-road suspension, low-range gearing, a heavy-duty radiator, and a limited-slip electronic differential. Furthermore, a 400-horsepower V6 system is available with an adaptive suspension, and this powertrain allows you to enhance your Expedition with the Stealth Performance package, which includes a sports suspension.
The 2024 Ford Expedition features a few minor updates on the exterior, such as the introduction of the new Wild Green body paint color, front tow hooks, and the optional Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow package. The body style and other design elements remain unchanged between the 2023 and 2024 Expedition models. A rectangular grille, squared-off headlamps, a tall roof, and a subtle pinstripe along the sides characterize the Expedition's style. Depending on your preference, your new Ford SUV may come with power running boards, wheels up to 22 inches in size, all-terrain tires, two-tone paint, a panoramic sunroof, and a power liftgate.
For the 2024 model year, there are two notable changes to the Expedition's features: a complimentary Connected Navigation subscription for 12 months and the addition of USB-C ports in the second row. Other standard and optional features across the Expedition's trim levels remain consistent. These features include adaptive cruise control, keyless ignition, a Bang & Olufsen audio system, a 12-inch or larger infotainment system screen, power-folding rear-row seats, second-row captain's chairs, driver's seat memory settings, heated seats in the first two rows, a surround-view camera, a wireless charging station, a blind-spot alert, leather upholstery, wireless connectivity for smart device apps, and a three-zone automatic climate control system.
